Supporting local farmers and teaching agriculture has long been a ministry of FAIRE Garden, but it has become of even greater importance during this current political climate
Dear Supporters and Friends, Greetings!
It has been a long time since you've heard from us! Our team continues to trust the Lord for provision and to find creative solutions to continue caring for the children of Haiti and to create evangelism and educational opportunities whenever possible.
The Current Situation in Haiti
Haiti has still not been able to hold an election since the assassination of the president in 2021. Due to the government shutdown and ongoing gang violence, tensions have continued to rise and operations remain difficult. This has resulted in at least three different temporary governments that have caused great challenges in getting critical information from our teams on the ground. Another important way FAIRE Garden has specifically been impacted is by the lack of consistency in customs pricing. Through our partnership with Missionary Flights International, we've purchased food and key supplies in the United States and transported it to Haiti. This was accomplished at a fairly reasonable cost, however due to the lack of government regulations, customs processes and prices have become increasingly unpredictable.
A Local Solution
Supporting local farmers and teaching agriculture has long been a ministry of FAIRE Garden, but it has become of even greater importance during this current political climate. The FAIRE Garden staff have been leaning more on local agriculture to feed our children. The benefit of this is two-fold; firstly, it supports the income of the farmers, and secondly, it allows food costs to be lower and more sustainable for FAIRE Garden.
However, there are some challenges involved in this. Many of the farmers that our ministry supports are in Croix-des-Boucquets, which is in the west of the country. This is where FAIRE Garden began and where a school still stands (though it is not currently functioning), even amidst the gang violence in that area. It has proven difficult to transport this food from the west to the northeast in the middle of political tension and gang violence.
To amend this, FAIRE Garden began purchasing food from farmers in the northeast area, however the amount of food needed is quite large. Between FAIRE Garden Academy (which include classical and technical schools), the three additional schools that we partner with, and the two national schools, of which we took over operations due to the government shutdown, FAIRE Garden cares for about 5,000 children. The ongoing food demand is greater than what the northeast farmers can consistently and affordably supply.

Farming God’s Way
These challenges continue to push us to persist creatively to find solutions. One of our solutions has been to become directly involved in our own agriculture and farming. We grow corn, rice, beans, and vegetables, keep bees, chickens, and goats, and have 3 fish ponds with over 80,000 fish. One of the highest yields has been with beekeeping and farming honey. This has created a great evangelism opportunity for the team in the community. Our team teaches young people who are interested in agriculture to “farm God’s way”. We teach that God made the earth and only Him can make it produce food. Not only does agriculture provide food for the kids and staff that FAIRE Garden supports, and teach valuable skills to the young people involved, but it is also teaching them the truth about God and who He is.
Construction and Trade School Updates
We are so excited to report the successful (and ongoing) construction of a professional trade center for young adults. These young adults have never been to school, and don’t know how to read, but they have the opportunity to learn valuable skills such as plumbing, welding, construction techniques such as masonry, and electrical training.
Additionally, we dug our first well in the Northeast, which will provide water not only for FAIRE Garden operations, but for the community as well.

How You Can Partner With Us in Prayer:
Pray for the leaders of Haiti - that they would be willing to organize fair elections soon instead of having transitional governments in place.
Pray for some kind of reliable customs regulation system to be put in place so that we can ship critical supplies such as food, medicines, and other needed equipment once again at fair rates.
Pray for the ongoing safety of the FAIRE Garden team, who operate under immense pressure.
Pray for additional monthly donors to help support God’s work in Haiti.
We want to thank you for your ongoing support and prayers as we continue to find new solutions to provide for the children and community around us.
In Christ,
The FAIRE Garden Team
